Closing your eyes is a mechanic that allows players to see things not normally seen with the naked eye. Most notably, the Shape is visible with your eyes closed. When closing ones' eyes, your vision will turn cloudy and red. Items and information of interest will glow bright red when nearby. The Shape will glow bright orange but dim to a faint shadow the farther it gets away.

to close their in-game eyes. When the player's eyes are closed, the Shape, hidden messages, and other useful information can be seen when not otherwise visible normally.
If lost during an objective, closing your eyes will reveal footprints that lead to the location of the current objective.
Sometimes on very rare occasions in missions, players might receive messages when they close their eyes...
