Interaction Information

Date: January 2, 2021
Player(s): Ceryx, NixInTime, Suma
Interacted With: THEE-I-DARE
Major details from the Interaction:

  • THEE-I-DARE responds to a Light sent by Ceryx about the names of The Voices and their limitations, saying that some of their names are simple and elemental, giving little room for improvisation, which limits that Voice. Other names such as DIE-FOR-YOU's imply breadth
  • He says that HUNT-THE-STRONG's Hosts, due to his name, would feel only brief satisfaction after achieving a goal, "closing a loop", but they are never allowed to feel true peace.
  • When Ceryx asks what would happen if The Hunter felt compassion, THEE-I-DARE says that his name would probably change, but that task wouldn't be an easy one.
  • THEE-I-DARE says that in the world of THE-MEASURE-CUTS, The Hunter would be nothing more than an uncivilised beast that failed to adapt and die out.

Transcript:
TID: “CERYX. YOU ARE RIGHT IN SOME WAYS. SOME NAMES ARE SIMPLE. ELEMENTAL. THEY ALLOW FOR LITTLE IMPROVISATION.”

Ceryx: “You said yourself, that you seem more- or you feel more limited than before.”

TID: “THE VIEW OF A VOICE IS NARROW IN SUCH CASES. OTHERS SUCH AS DIE-FOR-YOU. IMPLY BREADTH.”

Ceryx: “What is it like for you? Is it like… an impulse? An ache? An urging? Or is it something you just do, like the beating of a heart?”

TID: “MANY CAUSES, MUCH TO FEEL. YES. EVEN FOR THE HUNTER, HIS HOSTS FEEL A BRIEF SATISFACTION, I BELIEVE....”

Ceryx: “And they will never know peace…”

TID: “IN A GOAL ATTAINED. A LOOP CLOSED. BUT YES. TRUE PEACE IS DENIED TO THEM.”

Ceryx: “What a tortured existence that must be…”

TID: “WE, ALL OF US, MUST BREED.”

(Ceryx’s brain blows a fuse that falls briefly into a gutter.)

Ceryx: “Nature does not make me feel better about his means and motives.”

TID: “AS TO JOY BEING HIS UNDOING… YOUR VOICE FADES FOR ME, CERYX, BUT… SPEAKING AS A VOICE WHO IS…. CHANGING. I THINK IT WOULD ALTER. NOT SLAY.”

Ceryx: “Do you… believe compassion would alter him for the better?”

TID: “TO MAKE HIM FEEL IT WOULD MEAN CHANGING HIS NAME.”

Ceryx: “That’s not as simple as exerting a powerful emotion over him, no?”

TID: “NOT EASILY DONE DELIBERATELY.”

Ceryx: “I think it would have to be purely genuine; a moment of pain and regret.”

TID: “PERHAPS. AND HIS HOSTS HERE. EVEN THE CHILDREN. FEW… REGRETS.”

Ceryx: “I hold out hope- grim as it is- that there will come a time when they stop and look around, see what they’ve done… and that will be the moment….”

(Nix and Suma wreak havoc, all three break into laughter.)

TID: “I HOPE YOU ARE RIGHT.”

Ceryx: “I hope so too…. Now, these two, THEE-I-DARE bring me nothing but grief! (chuckle)”

Nix & Suma: (Audio Missing)

TID: “YES. A CHAOTIC MIX AT BEST.”

Suma: (Laughter)

Ceryx: “That’s fine… Chaos births new ideas.”

Suma: (Audio Missing)

Ceryx: (Laugh)”Unbelievable!”

Suma: (Audio Missing)

Ceryx: “Nor should you expect to…. (Sigh) I wish you all the best in your rebirth.”

TID: “HAVING SURVIVED MY OWN CHANGE… IN HIS CASE, PERHAPS IT IS THE SAME. TRAUMA IS TRANSFORMATION. FIRST…”

Ceryx: “(Softly) It is…”

TID: “HE MUST ENDURE A SHATTERING. IF HE DOES NOT? I WILL NOT WEEP.”

Ceryx: “I weep for those he’s hurt, those he sits behind the eyes of and howls-”

(Nix and Suma causing chaos again.)

Ceryx: (Fighting for composure)”... H-He sets their blood on fire, urges them to act, I weep for them.”

TID: “YOU AND YOUR VOICE OF CHOICE… WOULD SEE A CLEAN AND CLEAR WORLD.”

Ceryx: “Is that so wrong?”

TID: “IN THAT ONE, THE HUNTER WOULD DIE OUT. AN UNCIVILISED BEAST THAT FAILED TO ADAPT. BUT THIS WORLD OF OURS. THE REAL ONE IS MESSY. YOUR KIND, SOMEHOW LOVE TO REVERT, TIME AND AGAIN.”

Ceryx: “Mm.... That is human nature, isn’t it? Such as it is…”

TID: “I HOLD OUT HOPE THAT WHAT WE CALL HUMAN? IS OPEN TO CHANGE FOR THE BETTER.”

Ceryx: “You bring a smile to my face, my friend. Thank you.”

TID: “GOODNIGHT AND SURVIVE.”

(Everyone bids their farewells.)
