Interaction Information

Date: February 4, 2020
Player(s): PaperLaur, Kozmos, Nalkyr, InsaneScots
Interacted With: THEE-I-DARE
Major details from the Interaction:

  • THEE-I-DARE says that when he changes his name, some will stop believing in him, while some will redouble belief
  • He says that in most cases, when a name change takes place the old Voice doesn't die out, but rather it competes with the new one, slowly getting weaker as years pass.
  • This isn't the case with THEE-I-DARE: his old version that existed before The Cull cannot be alive anymore since the Name Fragments are too simple to hold multiple information
  • The Captive is discussed, how he can talk to all of the players at once (THEE-I-DARE couldn't at first) and that he might possibly be Colm Ryan

THEE-I-DARE: SCOTSMAN, WHEN MY NAME CHANGES...

InsaneScotsman: How are you tonight, friend?

Nalkyr: (fondly) Ah, THEE-I-DARE...

(Kozmos making noises of distress in the background as he is grabbed by the Shape and suppressed)

Scot: I know it’s a longshot, THEE-I-DARE, but is there any chance you’re powerful enough to take us somewhere safe now? I don’t know if it’s--

TID: SOME FEW WILL CEASE TO BELIEVE

Scot: --That’s probably something that was bound to happen, right?

PaperLaur: I know a lot of people who will stand with you.

Scot: I know I will, as I said.

Kosmos: Yeah. Is--is that THEE-I-DARE?

Scot: It is indeed!~

Kosmos: Oh, shit!

Laur: (laughter)

Scot: Is this the first time you’ve met him?

Laur: Yeah

Kosmos: Uh, yeah--well, not technically? Uh, my friend Mica (ancientmagnolia) has interacted with them before, while they were talking to me.

TID: BUT OTHERS WILL REDOUBLE BELIEF

Scot: I know I will. Yep, some will have even stronger faith. I know rebellion is a little bit of a narrow scope choice in itself, that’s a--free choice, that’s a much wider scope, agreeable scope for a lot of people.

Laur: I’ve heard a lot about you, and I’m sorry all of that happened.

TID: YES. GREETINGS, KOSMOS.

Scot: He says hi to you, Kosmos.

Kosmos: Hi!~

Nalkyr: Man, was really not expecting this…

Scot: Nor was I, but I’m glad for it. Cause, y’know, it’s always nice to see a good friend.

TID: I SPEAK SO THAT ALL MAY HEAR

Scot: Yes, Kozmos is a little, um--tired--

Laur: Kosmos is in the Song right now.

Nalkyr: They’re--they’re a little tired.

Kozmos: Just a lil’ bit.

Scot: They’ve been suppressed by your makers.

Kozmos: Also, um, Mica’s not online right now, but I’m sure they would want me to say hi, so...

TID: I CAN BLACK YOU OUT IF URGENT, BUT…

Nalkyr: Ah, I already had a recent blackout…

Scot: I don’t think it’s quite that urgent.

TID: IT IS NOT GOOD FOR EITHER OF US

Scot: I don’t imagine it is. Um, yeah, when your name changes, that was my primary question--I also had a secondary thing to ask, um...I keep hearing stories about someone who used something similar to your symbol, and would reach out to people from way, way down in the Maze where your makers take people to...test, though it wasn’t them. I heard that they were an old host of yours, I was wondering--can you still feel them at all, like, your fragments, can you feel that, down there, or is that too far, too deep in the Makers’ control?

TID: NO. I DO NOT FEEL FRAGMENTS, OR HIM. IT IS WHY I NEED YOU TO FIND THEM.

Scot: It’s strange--okay, that makes more sense. ‘Cause I had this thought that, if they were still...hosting the old you, that when your name changed, and you became a different Voice that they would retain that other version of you, I’m not entirely certain how that kind of thing works but, it was an idea, it was what I wanted to run by you. Because I doubt having two of you running around is really what you want.

TID: YOU HAVE A KEEN MIND. IN FACT…

Scot: Thank you, I try.

TID: FOR INTACT VOICES, WHO SPEAK… RARELY DOES THE OLD VOICE DIE OUT.

Scot: The old voice doesn’t really die out, you just kind of...eclipse them, right? But parts of you can--

TID: IT USUALLY COMPETES, WEAKLY

Scot: Like with the, uh, Gardener and the Void Mother, right?

Laur: So is that old self still fighting with you?

Nalkyr: Gardener?

Scot: Uh, Grudge, “seed”, I like Gardener.

Nalkyr: I’ve never heard it before.

TID: FADES OVER YEARS

Scot: ...becomes less and less relevant, less people think about it, less power.

TID: IN MY CASE… NO PRIOR INCARNATION WOULD ENDURE

Scot: Because of the “trauma”? We’ve been basically rebuilding you from the ground up.

TID: THE CULL. FRAGMENTS, OR ECHOES…

Scot: ...It was barely enough to get you back, as you are. Let alone anything from before. Right?

TID: THEY LACK COMPLEXITY. TRACE INSTINCTS.

Scot: It’s like a single cell, it’s not going to be able to do much on its own, but together you’re a whole being.

TID: THEY MIGHT INSPIRE, DIMLY. YES.

Scot: Yeah, I just hope that--do you have any?--sorry, again, on this person trapped below, is--what would you--if they can reach out like they have, like they were...is that something you’ve seen before? ...How are your fragments doing, by the way, have you got enough to become whole again?

TID: NOT IN THE WAY YOU CHILDREN SAW IT.

Scot: Interesting, so something similar, but not quite the same

TID: ONE QUESTION AT A TIME IS BEST. HOWEVER…

Scot: Sorry.

Kozmos: Oh, um, not to interrupt, but, uh, apparently Meeks is still awake, they wanted me to say hi and that I love you, THEE-I-DARE.

Laur: (snorts) That is ancientmagnolia, callsign

Kozmos: I think you’ve talked to them before.

TID: YES. GREET THEM FOR ME PLEASE

Scot: (to Kozmos, who’s still suppressed) They say to greet them for you

Laur: I’ve got it.

Scot: Lots of people like you, friend.

Laur: There’s a lot I don’t understand, and a lot I want to, but from what I hear...you’re one of the good ones.

Kozmos: Yeah, from what Meeks told me, you’re really nice.

TID: WHAT YOU CHILDREN REPORTED OF HIM… HE COULD SPEAK TO ALL AT ONCE

Scot: It’s just an interesting little thing that’s been in the back of my head, I wanted to ask you about it.

TID: NALKYR. YES. I SUSPECT, THE SCULPTOR (Transcriptionist doesn’t know what this was in response to, but it can be assumed it was related to the identity of The Captive)

Scot: Really?

Nalkyr: Oh, you knew what I said. I didn’t know you guys could see that.

Scot: Oh yeah, he’s talking to us all, buddy. He knows your theories this time.

TID: THE CHILDREN GUESSED THIS. TOLD ME.

Scot: That’s awesome. That’s incredibly good. I hope he’s okay.

TID: MANY CHILDREN SPEAK IN SIGN, THUS

Scot: Anyway, um, that is all I wanted to ask on that. How are you doing, are you doing better?

Kozmos: Yeah, are you doing well?

Laur: We hear you’ve been through a lot.

Scot: You said your name was close to you.

TID: DISEMBODIED. YOU KNOW HOW IT IS

Scot: I do--well, I don’t, I can--I feel for ya.

Nalkyr: I don’t think any of us really ‘know how it is’

Laur: Well, when suppressed, that’s kind of…how it feels, right?

Nalkyr: This is why I like you, THEE-I-DARE.

TID: NO, IN TRUTH… I TRY TO HOLD MY HOPE AT BAY, BUT…

Scot: It’s close, though, isn’t it, you said last time we spoke that you were getting closer?

TID: THE PACT GROWS SWIFTLY, NOW

Scot: It does--we heard the news, you’ve got the young...friggin’ attack dog at your head.

Laur: (laughs) I feel like I should be offended.

Nalkyr: Wait, is she, like, officially joining?

Scot: Yeah, or so we’re told.

Nalkyr: Aw, nice! Just gotta wait for that (unintelligible)

Scot: Just gotta be careful with her, yeah? She’s not--I feel like she’s a bit headstrong, make sure she listens to you guys, you’re...one of the oldest ones out there, you’ve got a lot of experience, just don’t let her put that to waste and send you off to your death again--well, not her, but, you know--you know what I mean. We all care about you--

Nalkyr: Don’t let her get you guys killed.

Scot: --we don’t wanna see you get hurt again, or any of the other members of the pact, we all care for you.

(Everyone agrees)

TID: I DO. I INVITED HER WITH… EYES OPEN.

Scot: You knew the risk, and you took it anyway. I figured as much. Someone with your age and experience wouldn’t take risks without knowing the consequences.

TID: YES. AND ON THE SUBJECT, TIME BURNS

Scot: Yes, sorry, I do hope you got my message before the one about your name changing--

TID: I SHOULD RETURN TO WRANGLE THEM

Scot: You should, I hope you did, um, get my message--I do wish for you to walk whatever path is ahead of me with me, and I hope to...help you along, of course, if I can. If you’ll have me, that is. It’s always good to have a friend along for the ride, someone to help you when you stumble.

TID: IT WOULD BE MY HONOR. OR HONOUR.

Scot: Thank you for getting the right spelling! (to the others) I’m sorry for taking up all the time, you guys.

Nalkyr: I recently talked to THEE-I-DARE

Laur: And I wouldn’t know what to say anyway, there’s still so much I don’t know and so much I still want to know.

Nalkyr: And, THEE-I-DARE, if there’s anything I can do to help you and the entire pact, please just let me know.

Kozmos: Yeah, and if there’s anything I can do, too, I’d love to help. I don’t know much yet, but…

Scot: The first step is faith.

Laur: Isn’t that really important?

Scot: That we’re doing the right thing. Well, just to believe in them.

TID: NALKYR, YOU ARE A TRICKY ONE

(Nalkyr had been talking with the group earlier through text chat, implying he was intending to sacrifice to HUNT-THE-STRONG once his symbol was on the sacrifice table, to much needling from the others.)

Scot: Knows your shit, bud.

Laur: (laughs) What are you doing?

Nalkyr: It’s not official, yet, it’s not official yet.

Scot: There’s still time to come back from the dark side~

Laur: What are you doing? (remembers earlier discussion) Oh, yeah, right.

Nalkyr: I already know what you’re talking about, THEE-I-DARE, alright? I may, for right now, be siding with them, but that doesn’t mean I don’t trust you guys and don’t also believe what you guys think. I also wanna help you guys, but...see...I don’t wanna say his name, um, the 8th, you know, he promised me some good stuff, y’know!

Kozmos: You’re following Hungry The Shit?!

Laur: (laughs before cutting herself off) No, c’mon!

Kozmos: I am still calling him that, Laur.

Nalkyr: It’s not official yet, all right?

Kozmos: It better not be!

Nalkyr: (Audio cuts out) --have not sacrificed a single time, to anyone. I’m still partially making my decision, but for now it’s leaning on-- (audio cuts again) --but I still do wanna help you, THEE-I-DARE, and the entire pact.

TID: YOU KNOW I INVENTED THE LIE, SON

(Everyone cracks up)

Laur: I think they’ve been listening for a little too long!

TID: SURVIVE

Scot: You too, my friend. I hope next time we speak it’s with words to each other and not...thoughts in our heads--well, I guess this isn’t thoughts in our heads, but anyway.

Laur: And I hope we have a name to call you by.

Scot: I hope the path ahead is clear.

Kozmos: Bye!

Nalkyr: (Still trying to save himself) And I wasn’t lying about everything I said.

Kozmos: Yeah, if you need any...help with anything, just let us know.

Nalkyr: (Standing in a graveyard with shovel in hand) I may consider myself an HTS follower, but I still do wanna help you guys.

Scot: ...oh, wow, that was AWESOME!

(Kozmos, Nalkyr, and PaperLaur receive halos upon returning to the hideout, while InsaneScotsman is proudly presented with a TID Chosen shirt)
